Leslie Paul, claimed that the origin of this word was Saxon- meaning weapon show. A strange name for something associated with a peace movement! Nevertheless, whatever the origins of the name, it was a term used for ordering one’s kit whilst at camp.

Today it is used rarely, but was an essential piece of camp craft during the 1930’s.
